• In 1830 - First Negro Convention of Free Men agree to start their boycott on slave-produced goods
  
• In 1974 - Officer Gail Cobb of the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., is shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a robbery suspect. Officer Cobb is the first of 73 African-American female officers to be killed in the line of duty.
